Allu Arjun-Rashmika Mandanna-starrer Pushpa 2: The Rule has fetched more than three million advance bookings on BookMyShow, smashing all previous records set by blockbusters like K.G.F: Chapter 2 (2022), Salaar (2023), Devara: Part I (2024) and Kalki 2898 AD (2024).

“3 million & counting The craze of #Pushpa continues,” wrote BookMyShow alongside a motion poster of the film, which hit screens on Thursday.

According to a Sacnilk report, the much-awaited sequel garnered more than Rs 100 crore gross globally in pre-sales ahead of its release today. As of Wednesday, Pushpa 2 tickets on BookMyShow were sold for Rs 2,500 in Mumbai, Rs 2,300 in Delhi and Rs 1,780 in Kolkata.

With this, Pushpa 2 becomes Allu Arjun’s biggest domestic and worldwide opener based on advance bookings alone. Pusha - The Rise, which made the Telugu actor a nationwide sensation in 2021, had an opening of around Rs 64 crore gross worldwide, including around Rs 53 crore in India.

Directed by Sukumar, Pushpa 2: The Rule follows sandalwood smuggler Pushpa Raj’s exploits after he gets control of the racket, upping the ante for Allu Arjun in the title role. Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil return in the sequel as Srivalli and SP Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat, respectively. Sreeleela’s much-talked-about dance number Kissik is another high point of the film.

Pushpa 2 has received a U/A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The music has been scored by Devi Sri Prasad, with cinematography by Miroslaw Kuba Brozek.
