Bhagam Bhag 2 —- starring Akshay Kumar, Govinda and Paresh Rawal — is set to go on floors next year, makers Roaring River Productions announced on Instagram, sharing a report by a media outlet on Friday.
Akshay, Govinda and Paresh played the lead roles in the original Priyadarshan directorial, released 18 years back in 2006.
Bhagam Bhag also starred Lara Dutta, Rajpal Yadav, Jackie Shroff, Arbaaz Khan, Shakti Kapoor, Manoj Joshi, Razak Khan, Sharat Saxena and Asrani.
The film narrated the story of a theatre group which travels to London for a show. However, they find themselves accused of a murder they did not commit. The unexpected turn of events leads them into a clash with a drug dealer.
Bhagam Bhag was a commercial success and emerged as the ninth highest-grossing film of 2006.
The film was loosely adapted from the Malayalam movie Mannar Mathai Speaking, which itself was based on the 1958 film Vertigo. Bhagam Bhag was later remade in Telugu as Brahmanandam Drama Company (2008).
As per media reports, the rights for the sequel were recently acquired from Shemaroo Entertainment by Sarita Ashwin Varde of Roaring River Productions, who has simultaneously also been working on the film's script.
Bhagam Bhag 2 is expected to release in 2026. However, more information about the cast and crew of the sequel has been kept under wraps.
