Actor-producer Dev has confirmed that filmmaker Birsa Dasgupta will direct Durgo Rohoshyo in which the Tollywood star is set to play the iconic sleuth Byomkesh Bakshi.
The actor took to twitter on Friday to announce the name of the director of his latest project. “Welcome Birsa Dasgupta on board. Remaining cast n crew will announce soon,” he posted on the microbl;ogging site.
On his part, Birsa thanked Dev for trusting him to helm the project. “Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay’s DURGO ROHOSHYO is undoubtedly the most cinematic of all Byomkesh Bakshi stories. Butterflied in my stomach,” he wrote on Twitter.
Dev, who recently completed 17 years in the Bengali film industry, will also be co-producing the upcoming film with Shadow Films. Initially, there was speculation that Srijit Mukherji might be helming Byomkesh Durgo Rohoshyo. But the Autograph director issued a statement to put an end to the speculations about his involvement with the venture.
Dev had earlier worked with Birsa Dasgupta in Shudhu Tomari Jonyo (2015). Birsa’s last big screen outing was the mystery thriller Mukhosh (2021), starring Anirban Bhattacharya and Tota Roy Choudhury.
