Abir Chatterjee and Mimi Chakraborty are set to star as an onscreen couple for the first time in Nandita Roy and Shiboprasad Mukherjee’s yet-to-be-titled directorial feature, slated for a Durga Puja release this year, production house Windows has announced.

Abir and Mimi had shared screen space in Raj Chakrabarty’s 2012 tragic-romance drama Bojhena Shey Bojhena. However, the duo were not paired opposite each other in the film.

Abir is hopeful that the audience will like this film. “Windows (Production) has successively delivered good movies over time. And Durga Puja is an occasion when the audience loves to watch a Bengali film,” he said in a video shared by the production house.

“We promise that we will come up with something world-class,” Mimi added.

Windows Production has never released any film during the Durga Puja holidays. Their films, which carry a social message, have generally been released during the summer or Christmas holidays. However, the director duo are rooting for Puja release this year because the subject of their film is linked to the festival.

Mimi had previously worked with Nandita and Shiboprosad in Posto (2017). She was paired opposite Jisshu Sengupta in the family drama.

Abir, on the other hand, will be playing the lead role in Aritra Mukherjee’s upcoming film Fatafati —also produced by Windows Production— alongside Ritabhari Chakraborty.
