Qatar Airways and IndiGo are reactivating their codeshare partnership after the bar on international scheduled flights were lifted by the Indian government.

Under this agreement, Qatar will operate 190 flights per week to and from 12 destinations in India, including Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Kochi, Kozhikode, Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Goa, Calcutta and Thiruvananthapuram.

IndiGo will operate 154 flights a week between Doha and Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Kochi, Kozhikode, and Kannur.

Qatar Airways will place its marketing code on IndiGo operated flights between Doha and Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad from April 25, and Chennai, Bangalore, Kochi and Kozhikode from May 9.

In a codeshare partnership, each carrier on its distribution system can sell seats of the other’s flights. IndiGo had in November 2019 signed the codeshare agreement with Qatar Airways.

Analysts said the codeshare would help the airline as the sector will see stiff competition in the coming months with Akasa Air and Jet Airways ventures set to take off.
