Grand Vitara sales begin

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) on Monday started retail sales of the Grand Vitara, its mid-size SUV developed under the joint venture of Suzuki and Toyota, at a price point starting from Rs 10.45 lakh and going up to Rs 17.05 lakh. Toyota has priced the same SUV that it has christened Toyota Hyrider at Rs 15.11 lakh to Rs 18.99 lakh.

The SUV is being manufactured at the Toyota plant at Bidadi in Karnataka. Announcing the prices, Hisashi Takeuchi, managing director & CEO, of Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said: “The Grand Vitara has received over 57,000 bookings. The SUV has multiple offerings. The Grand Vitara Intelligent Electric Hybrid has segment-leading fuel efficiency and a pure EV driving mode.” It will also have all-wheel drive modes. The Grand Vitara Progressive Smart Hybrid is available with 5-speed Manual and 6-Speed Automatic transmission options.

“The Grand Vitara has been launched at a very competitive starting price of Rs 10.45 lakh. We are confident that it will set a new benchmark for SUV enthusiasts in the country.” The Grand Vitara Progressive Smart Hybrid is powered by the Next-Gen K-series 1.5-litre, Dual Jet, Dual VVT engine.

This power train delivers fuel efficiency of up to 21.11km/l. The Grand Vitara Progressive Smart Hybrid with a dual battery setup offers Brake Energy Regeneration, Torque assists, and an Idle Stop-Start function.
