The University Grants Commission is working in line with the NEP 2020 to support Universities and colleges to transform higher education in India to meet global standards. UGC is also formulating regulations and working as a facilitator to ensure higher education institutions impart quality education and create a skilful and innovative future workforce.

In line with this mission, the UGC has redesigned its website to make it more user-friendly, informative, and dynamic.

All information on the new website is categorised by stakeholders, such as students, faculty, and universities. The home page covers key initiatives, student and faculty corners, information about different types of universities, dashboards and e-Governance portals of UGC initiatives and schemes.

With the redesigning of this website, the stakeholders can now easily access notices and circulars and regulations pertaining to specific stakeholders, such as universities, colleges, students, and faculty. Applicants will also be able to find university details very easy on this website, as it has more filter facilities for the users to sort HEIs as per their requirements. Similarly, users can also look for details of the UGC's various bureaus and contact information of the Bureau Head and other officials.

Launch of UTSAH Portal:

The National Education Policy (NEP 2020) recommends different initiatives to transform higher education. There are ten main themes and eighteen points. All Universities and Institutions need to implement these points. UGC has developed a portal named UTSAH (Undertaking Transformative Strategies and Actions in Higher Education) to motivate, implement, and monitor this progress.

This Portal aims to effectively track and support the implementation of the National Education Policy 2020 and its strategic initiatives across Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) in our country. It was further stated that the UGC has launched the UTSAH portal after extensive consultations with stakeholders, including institutions, universities, colleges, IITs, NITs, and INIs.

The UTSAH Portal will serve as a comprehensive platform providing detailed information about the UGC's initiatives for qualitative reforms in higher education. Furthermore, it will also serve as a repository for Regulations, Guidelines, and Frameworks issued by the UGC, ensuring easy accessibility for all stakeholders.

This particular Portal will also track output and outcomes across essential fields such as learner-centric education, digital learning, industry-institute collaboration, academic research, internationalisation, and the Indian Knowledge System. Through this UTSAH Portal, HEIs will provide valuable insights into their efforts and progress in these thrust areas, contributing to the overall enhancement of the higher education landscape in our country.

Under this initiative, HEIs must log in to the Portal using their AISHE code and furnish information on various activities falling under the ten identified thrust areas. Further, the UGC will generate monthly reports based on the information provided by HEIs. The Portal has been designed with a user-friendly interface to facilitate easy submission of initiatives, achievements, and best practices adopted by HEIs to implement qualitative reforms on their campuses. Providing comprehensive and reliable data will aid in informed policy-making, future planning, and the overall growth of the higher education sector in our country. The UGC anticipates the launch of the UTSAH Portal as a significant milestone in its journey towards accessible, equitable, inclusive and quality education in India.

Launch of PoP Portal:

The transformative reforms introduced in the National Education Policy 2020 suggest engaging distinguished experts from various fields by academic institutions to provide students with exposure to their in-depth experience in the profession.

The University Grants Commission (UGC), keeping in line with the policy direction, has introduced a new teaching post titled 'Professor of Practice' for Higher Educational Institutions (HEls) in India. The guidelines for engaging Professors of Practice in HEIs were published on 30 September 2022. Introducing Professor of Practice aims to enhance the quality of higher education by bringing practitioners, policymakers, skilled professionals, etc., into the higher education system.

In line with Policy, UGC has developed a portal of Professors of Practice (PoP) to facilitate institutions to get experienced professional experts in the required area.

The Experts in any discipline can register with an email ID and mobile number. Then, they can log in and fill the profile with detailed information such as the domain of expertise, years of work experience, location, type of engagement, expectations, etc.

Universities and institutions can register on this Portal. Upload the advertisement for the appointment of PoP with the required number of posts and domain.

Institutions can view the details of Experts registered on the Portal. The institutions can contact the domain experts, and engagement will be decided based on the convenience of both. This Portal is a platform for interaction between experts and academic institutions.
