Vedic Economy, authored by Prof. (Dr.) Rama Prosad Banerjee, had its international release at the Summer Fest 2023 at New Jersey Convention and Exposition Center on 24 June 2023. The book was officially unveiled in the august presence of Eminent Thinker, Minister and Spiritual Leader, Swami Sarvapriyananda of ‘Vedanta Society’, New York.
The book shows that collective socio-economic upliftment is built on the principles of unity and togetherness. Culled from decades of study, Vedic Economy is a masterful display of scholarly research and inspired thinking. It received great praise from Swami Sarvapriyananda who commended Dr. Banerjee’s vision and appreciated the values and principles extolled in the book.
Vedic Economy is based on Kautilya’s Arthashastra and the Mahabharata and has been published by Atlantic Publishers. The work capsules vedic economic philosophy under the broad title of Utthana Shatakam (Six Principles of Economic Emergence) covering Creating a Synthesis - Samannyam, Developing Equirhythm - Sam Chhandam, Collective Emergence - Samadhritam, Distributive Justice in Demand and Consumption - Samani Aakutih, Emergence through Knowledge - Pranjanartham, and Collective Unfoldment - Apavrinu Vayam. On the one hand Prof. (Dr.) Banerjee analyses the pressing issues of poverty, illiteracy, ill-health, inequality, and socio-economic evils, while on the other, he offers time-tested measures of overcoming these barriers to economic well being. Principles of collectivism in economic management by sharing riches, rights and responsibilities, maintaining and establishing equal access to resources are championed here with significant emphasis on ancient Vedic philosophy – ‘Sam gacchadhwam sam vadadhwam sam vo manamsi janatam’
