The National Testing Agency (NTA) will be conducting a common entrance test (CET) for Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) courses at University of Delhi (DU), Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU). The application process is currently underway, and the window will remain open till 8 September 2023.
PhD CET will be a 3-hour computer-based test (CBT) with 100 multiple-choice type questions divided into two sections. The first section will have questions on research methodology while the second section will have subject-specific questions. Candidates may opt to appear for a maximum of three papers, provided that the timings of the tests do not overlap. The test schedule of the test is yet to be announced.

Questions will be in English, with the exception of other language papers. There is no age limit to appear for the test, but candidates need to have a postgraduate degree or appear for the qualifying examination to be eligible for the PhD CET.
In previous years, NTA conducted separate PhD entrance tests for JNU and DU, while BHU and BBAU held institute-level entrance tests.
