Noida International University (NIU) has announced the appointment of Uma Bhardwaj as the new vice-chancellor. With a vast experience of 30 years, Bhardwaj is going to maximise the value of NIU as one of the most innovative universities in the country while bringing global education and opportunities to students and faculties.
Bhardwaj is a seasoned professional in the education industry and is known for her pioneering ideas and student-centric approach. She held leadership positions in premier institutions prior to joining NIU. She is an implementer, who is able to successfully work both independently and as part of a team. She is a gold medalist in MSc Biochemistry and holds a PhD in Biotechnology and has a vast experience of working for five years in the corporate world and 25 years in the teaching and research sector.
Speaking on the appointment, Devesh Kumar Singh, chairman, Noida International University said “We have chosen a new Vice-Chancellor that embodies our vision and sense of purpose. She will lead the development and implementation of a new strategy for NIU, directing initiatives that transform lives and inspire positive change through learning and research. As challenges after pandemic have mounted and the pace of change accelerates, the university is ideally positioned to expand its discovery and translational research capacity and she can definitely lead the path.”
Bharadwaj has hands-on expertise in coordination with statutory bodies such as DCI for BDS and MDS courses, INC for BSc and MSc nursing courses, AIOTA for BOT and MOT courses, and IAP for BPT and MPT courses, PCI for Pharmacy courses process for various accreditation, academic and administrative support services. “I want to make NIU a thought leader of the education sector of our country. It should be uniquely positioned to shape the dialogue and act as a catalyst in the evolution of a high-quality education system across India that matches up to the best in the world. In pursuit of providing the best services, it is important that we all should work hard. I plan to make learning more interdisciplinary, connected with reality and focused on developing 21st century skills of critical thinking, collaboration and communication,” said Bharadwaj.
