The Ministry of Education is set to release the NIRF India Rankings 2024 on August 12, 2024. The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) India Rankings will be accessible on the official website, nirfindia.org.
According to an update on the website, the NIRF India Rankings will be published at 3PM on Monday, August 12. The official website states, “This framework outlines a methodology to rank institutions across the country. The methodology draws from the overall recommendations broad understanding arrived at by a Core Committee set up by MHRD, to identify the broad parameters for ranking various universities and institutions.”
The parameters broadly cover ‘Teaching, Learning and Resources,’ ‘Research and Professional Practice,’ ‘Graduation Outcome,’ ‘Outreach and Inclusivity,’ and ‘Perception.’”
In 2023, the NIRF India rankings covered various categories, including ‘Overall’, ‘Universities’, ‘Colleges’, ‘Research Institutions’, ‘Engineering’, ‘Management’, ‘Pharmacy’, ‘Medical’, ‘Dental’, ‘Law,’ ‘Architecture and Planning’, ‘Agriculture and Allied Sectors’, and ‘Innova’tion’.
IIT Madras topped the 'Overall' category, followed by Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, in the second spot and IIT Delhi in third place. Under the 'Universities' category, IISc Bengaluru led the list, with Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in second, and Jamia Millia Islamia in third.
Miranda House secured the top position in the 'Colleges' category, with Hindu College, Delhi, and Presidency College, Chennai, coming in second and third, respectively. In the 'Engineering' category, IIT Madras was first, IIT Delhi second, and IIT Bombay third. For the 'Management' category, IIM Ahmedabad took the top spot, followed by IIM Bangalore and IIM Kozhikode.
In the 'Medical' category, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi was first, with Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, second, and Christian Medical College, Vellore, third. Among the 'Law' colleges, National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru, topped the list, National Law University (NLU), Delhi, was second, and Nalsar University of Law, Hyderabad, third.
In the 'Research' institutions category, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, held the top spot, with Indian Institute of Technology Madras and Indian Institute of Technology Delhi following in second and third places, respectively.
