The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore will conduct the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) aptitude test 2021 on January 9, 2022.
Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) is a government-funded national fellowship programme that aims to promote science education and motivate students to choose a career in basic sciences courses and research.
There is no prescribed syllabus for the aptitude test. The KVPY test aims to test the understanding and analytical ability of the student rather than his or her factual knowledge. The students are tested for the syllabus up to Class XII, first year of BSc, BS, BStat, MSc. MS as applicable.
Students of Class XII and first-year students pursuing any undergraduate programme in basic science are eligible for the fellowship.
The Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, offers fellowships worth Rs 5,000 to Rs.7,000 per month and contingency grants (equivalent to four months fellowship per annum) to students studying in the first-year programme in a basic science course such as BSc or BS or BStat or BMath or Int MSc or Int MS.
Students are selected on the basis of academic excellence. The KVPY Fellowship 2021 will be awarded on the basis of the candidates' performance in the aptitude test. No interview will be conducted this year.
Special committees have been set up at IISc Bangalore to screen the applications and conduct the aptitude test at various centres in the country.
The science programme aims to identify students with research aptitude, help them pursue a career in scientific research and to ensure the country’s research and development grows in this field with the best scientific minds.
