Cambridge Assessment International Education issues the award every year to recognise student achievements in a wide range of Cambridge IGCSE and Cambridge International AS and A Level subjects.

The global awards acknowledge student success in four categories – ‘Top in the World’, ‘Top in Country’, ‘High Achievement Award’ and ‘Best Across Subjects’.

Out of the 150 unique winners from India, 15 students are from Delhi-NCR and four among them have won in the ‘Top in the World’ category. A total of 42 students from across the country bagged the ‘Top in the World’ award, given to students who achieve the highest marks in the world in a particular subject. In addition, 65 won the ‘Top in Country’ award and 17 won the ‘Best across Subjects[1]’ award.

Mahesh Shrivastava, regional director, South Asia, Cambridge Assessment International Education, said, “I would like to congratulate all of our award winners across India for their truly amazing achievements in their recent exams. What they have all achieved during such a challenging year is incredible. The pandemic has continued to disrupt teaching and learning around the world, creating a great deal of uncertainty for students and teachers alike. Yet our students and their teachers have all worked incredibly hard to overcome these challenges and have maintained their focus on teaching and learning.

Shrivastava continued, “These awards recognise their resilience and dedication and each of them should be very proud of what they have achieved. I wish them all the very best for the future. On behalf of everyone at Cambridge International, I would also like to thank and congratulate each of the winners’ schools, teachers and families for everything they have done to support these students throughout their studies and help them to achieve this success today.”

Speaking about this year’s awards, Sravani Rao, principal, DPS International, New Delhi said, “The 2020-21 session has been a very challenging one for teachers and parents, but most of all for students. Nevertheless, students have shown remarkable resilience and have come out stronger – as has been demonstrated by the outstanding performance in the Cambridge awards. The Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards are a keenly awaited event of the year because of their tremendous impact on college admissions. My congratulations to all the students who have won awards and heartfelt thanks to the educators and parents who have provided unwavering support and guidance to the students.”

The awards provide an opportunity to recognise the hard work, dedication and outstanding achievements of the very best Cambridge students around the world. The achievements of those who won awards this year are especially impressive, as many of them have had to adapt how they learn when schools were closed, and teaching and learning couldn’t take place face-to-face in a classroom.
