The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) has commenced the admission process for its Master of Technology (MTech) programme in quantum technology for the academic year 2024-25. Aspiring candidates can secure admissions through the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2024 scores. The application window is now open and will close on April 12, 2024. There are 10 seats available.
GATE 2024 results are slated for release on March 16, with the window for objecting to the answer key open until February 25. The final results will be based on the revised answer key.

Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates must hold a BE/ BTech or equivalent degree in any discipline with a valid GATE score, or an MSc or equivalent degree with GATE qualification.
- Those with a four-year Bachelor of Science or equivalent in any scientific discipline, accompanied by a valid GATE score, are eligible to apply.
- A strong foundation in mathematics is also a prerequisite for admission.
Application Fees
- Candidates belonging to the general, Other Backward Classes (OBC), and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) categories are required to pay an application fee of ₹800.
- Candidates from Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) categories are charged ₹400.
Selection Process
Selection is based on 70% of GATE score combined with 30% interview score.

Quantum Computation and Simulations, Quantum Communications and Cryptography, Quantum Sensing and Metrology, Quantum Materials and Devices.
The MTech programme, housed within the Department of Instrumentation and Applied Physics at IISc Bangalore, emphasises quantum technology. Prospective students can choose from a range of GATE papers, including AE, BM, BT, CE, CH, CS, CY, EC, EE, GG, NM, IN, MA, ME, MN, MT, PH, PI, XE, ST, and GE.
