In the BTech and BTech-MTech dual degree programmes at the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN), 288 students were accepted this year. The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) selected the students based on their Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advance 2022 results.
The majority of these students, who come from 24 different states, are from Maharashtra (58), Gujarat (57), and Rajasthan (43). Following them are, among others, Telangana (27), Madhya Pradesh (20), Uttar Pradesh (16), Andhra Pradesh (11) and Bihar (11). There are also two American students who are OCIs (overseas citizens of India) this academic year.
The number of female students enrolling IITGN this year totals 58, bringing the gender ratio of freshmen undergraduates to over 20%.
In an opening session with their families present, the Institute welcomed the newly registered students and launched its flagship Foundation Programme (FP) 2022. IIT Gandhinagar's first-year students participate in FP 2022, an immersive programme of 5 weeks. The event is being organised by Sameer Patel, Abinaya Sampath, Rusa Mandal, Mukesh Dhanka, and Subramanian Sankaranarayanan and will feature activities and interactions with notable individuals, among other opportunities. From 20 October to 23 November, 2022, the programme will be held on the IITGN campus.
