The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has commenced the admissions for PhD from today i.e. 30 October 2024. Interested and eligible applicants can now register for the IGNOU PhD Admissions on the official portal- ignouadm.samarth.edu.in.

Candidates have to pay a registration fee of Rs 1,000 to submit their application form. To be eligible, candidates are required to have a valid UGC NET with JRF or a valid UGC NET score 2024 as prescribed in the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Five per cent of the total seats will be reserved for Persons with Disabilities by IGNOU (with not less than 40 percent disability), however, such candidates will not be adjusted against the appropriate category (Gen/SC/ST/OBC/EWS) to which they belong. “The JRF-qualified students are admitted into the PhD programme based on an interview as per the University Grants Commission. Candidates with valid UGC NET with JRF will be called for interview and the interview shall carry 100 percent weightage,” read the official website.

IGNOU PhD Admissions 2024: Steps to register

  1. Go to the official website- ignouadm.samarth.edu.in
  2. Click the ‘New registration’ button in the applicant login area
  3. Fill in the details such as your name and password in the appropriate columns correctly
  4. Your username will be sent to you through e-mail and SMS
  5. Submit all the required documents in a scanned format
  6. Pay the registration fee via credit card, debit card, or net banking
  7. Submit the online application form
  8. Download and save it for future reference
