For admission to undergraduate programmes at central universities that accept the Common University Entrance Test Undergraduate (CUET UG) score, the University Grants Commission (UGC) chose to implement a common counselling procedure.
Candidates won't have to submit separate applications to several universities anymore, perhaps by the end of the next year. The major objective is to simplify the admissions procedure and make it simpler for applicants.
According to the UGC chairperson, the single counselling mechanism will offer a number of advantages. The process will take some time to implement, though, because there are so many central institutions and their varied curriculum. "Once that is launched, the admissions process in the central universities will be much more streamlined, and it will be easier for students to apply," the UGG chairman continued.
The UGC will shortly disclose further details. The portal for the unified counselling mechanism is now being developed. The counselling process would be under the supervision of a panel made up of members from various key universities to ensure its efficacy.
This year, the overall attendance rate for CUET UG 2023 was 74.4 percent. On July 15, NTA released the CUET UG result for 2023. 19.2 lakh students, or 100% more than the 9.6 lakh who took the exam previous year, registered for the CUET UG 2023 exam.
