The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has asked all examination centres to ensure proper arrangements for students in the current heatwave conditions and also to ensure COVID-safety with a spike in cases in some parts of India.
The CBSE 2002 Term II board examinations for Classes X and XII are being held offline. The Class X exams will end on May 24 and the Class XII exams on June 15.
The board has paid Rs 5,000 and Rs 5 per candidate for exam day to the exam centres to ensure stringent implementation of COVID protocol. The centres have been asked to strictly adhere to the guidelines issued by the board and respective state governments.
The CBSE board will also pay Rs 2 per candidate for exam day to the exam centres to ensure ample availability of water.

Centre superintendents have been asked to personally intervene to ensure proper arrangements are made at all exam centres.
A total of 21,16,209 students are appearing for CBSE 2002 Term II Class X exams across 7,406 centres.
A total of 14,54,370 students are appearing for CBSE 2002 Term II Class XII exams across 6,702 centres.
The board had earlier paid Rs 5,000 to each exam centre for purchase of infrared thermometers and Rs 5 per student per day for sanitisation of the premises and arrangement for soaps and sanitisers.
In the ongoing board exams, the number of students permitted in each classroom has been capped at 18 and schools have been asked to provide separate rooms to students suffering from COVID-19. India on April 28 reported 3,303 fresh COVID-19 cases and 39 fatalities.
