Calcutta University has officially commenced the registration process for the Research Eligibility Test (CU RET 2023), inviting applications for a PhD in the electronic science department. Aspiring candidates can submit their applications offline.
Prospective candidates can also complete the Calcutta University RET 2023 application through an online form, accompanied by the necessary documents and an application fee of ₹100. The fee can be conveniently deposited at any cash counter of the University of Calcutta, either through challan or the online portal.
Important Dates
- Application deadline is December 12, 2023.
- RET written exam will be held on December 22, 2023.
- Shortlisted candidates announcement will be made on December 29, 2023.
- Interviews will be held on January 4, 2024.
The written test, weighted at a maximum of 150 marks, will pose multiple-choice questions to candidates, to be completed within a one-hour timeframe. To qualify, unreserved candidates need to secure 50%, while OBC and SC/ ST category candidates require 45% and 35%, respectively.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must possess an MSc degree in electronic science or physics with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks. Those with a Master's in Engineering or Technology (electronics and communication engineering) or equivalent must have 60% aggregate marks. Reserved category candidates enjoy a 5% relaxation.
The selection process includes a written examination at the Department of Electronic Science, followed by interviews. However, candidates holding qualifications like UGC-CSIR (JRF), NET, GATE, SLET, SET, MPhil-MTech/ ME, or equivalent are exempt from the written test and can directly appear for the interview.
During the interview, candidates are required to submit a concise one-page research proposal, showcasing their academic aspirations.
