In a formal announcement, the Bar Council of India (BCI) has disclosed the schedule for its upcoming 19th qualifying examination. This exam specifically caters to Indian nationals with law degrees from foreign universities. Scheduled to take place from December 18 to 23, 2023, at the Bar Council's premises in New Delhi, the rigorous assessment comprises six papers.
BCI Qualifying Exam Schedule
The examination will run from 11 am to 2 pm, with each paper carrying a weightage of 100 marks. The duration for each paper is set at 3 hours. As per the BCI's exam schedule, the following papers are included:
Constitution of India (Paper 1 on December 18)
Contract law and negotiable instruments act (Paper 2 on December 19)
Company law (Paper 3 on December 20)
For the subsequent three papers, namely Civil Procedure Code and Limitation Act (Paper 4 on December 21), Criminal Procedure Code (Paper 5 on December 22), and The Indian Legal Profession and Code of Ethics (Paper 6 on December 23), only individual bare acts (not digests) with minimal short notes are permissible inside the exam hall. These bare acts should be free from any marks, chits, or other annotations.
