Modern High School International will introduce an international curriculum in Classes VI and VII from the next academic session starting in April.

The school has been offering the international curriculum from Classes VIII to XII. With the addition of the two new classes in 2024, the school will be offering the international curriculum right from middle school.

It added Class VIII in 2023.

“We always had plans to start the international curriculum in middle school but we saw there was a demand from parents for a smoother transition into an international curriculum in high school. The middle school will have an integrated curriculum that will include the best practices of CAIE and IB,” said Nandini Ghatak, principal, Modern High School International.

“We did feel that we need to bring to the city an institute which will match any institution around the world. While we are grounded in the values that Modern High School provides, we thought it is essential to develop among our children the 21st century skills for a world which is complex and uncertain,” said Ghatak.

The international school is co-educational.

In the beginning, the school was functioning from the existing campus of Modern High School for Girls. It shifted to a new campus beside the old one in November 2022. On Saturday, the new building of the school at the intersection of Gurusaday Road and Syed Amir Ali Avenue will be formally inaugurated.

The classrooms don’t have conventional seating arrangements but have a more flexible setting.

If students are doing group work they will have a setting that will enable group discussions, said Ghatak.

Nirmala Birla, chairperson of the schools, said: “Our vision for Modern High School International is to continue to do what we have been doing at Modern High School for decades — to uphold our values of excellence, integrity and inclusive. The IGCSE and IBDP curricula at Modern High School International focusses on learning that go beyond textbooks. Our aim is not just to create students who excel academically, but also young people who are compassionate, empathetic and socially responsible.”
