Students across the country are drawing their focus on the upcoming entrance exam- CUET UG 2024. Introduced as a single, standardised entrance exam for admission to undergraduate courses in central universities, CUET aims to streamline the admission process and provide a fair platform for all aspirants.

Candidates are recalibrating their preparation strategies to align with the new exam pattern. Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) on both General Awareness and the candidate's subject of choice test the student's analytical skills ,reasoning power as well as grasp over his/her subject of specialisation.

The Telegraph Online Edugraph was in conversation with Dr Mausumi Mukherjee, Associate Professor in Political Science at the Gokhale Memorial Girls’ College to help students ace their preparation for CUET UG Political Science Exam 2024. Dr Mukherjee has shared with us the strategies and last minute revision tips to keep in mind before appearing for the CUET UG Political Science Exam 2024.

Preparation Tips For General Awareness, Current Affairs, Mathematical Reasoning-

Read books and magazines on Current Affairs, Newspapers, Practise logical reasoning tests.

Political Science-

  1. Read the syllabus thoroughly
  2. Do not make selective study and meticulously go through each topic
  3. Give more time to topics you are less conversant with or which you find difficult
  4. Make written notes as you go through a topic
  5. Highlight or jot down key points
  6. Solve Question Banks on the subject more than once
  7. Memorise articles (constitution), names of books and authors, important dates
  8. Make acronyms to sharpen memory
  9. Keep solving MCQs
  10. Take multiple mock tests to sharpen analytical skills,improve time-management and broaden your knowledge-base

Examination Strategy

  1. You have 105 minutes to answer 100 questions. Do not panic if you find the first few questions difficult or unknown. First focus on questions you know.
  2. Read each question in full before answering. Beware of trick questions.
  3. First tackle the 25 questions from General Awareness.Devote not more than 15 minutes to this set of questions.
  4. For 75 questions on the subject, keep 60 minutes for the first round where you answer only those questions which you know for sure. Do not answer the questions whose answers are doubtful to you in the first round.
  5. Keep the next 30 minutes for answering questions which need deliberation.
  6. Do not make blind guess works at random except for very very few ,if at all-negative marking will take away credit for your correct answers.
  7. Last 5 minutes check if you have answered all the questions.

Remember, time management and making logical choices is the key to success in any competitive examination .

Last minute revision tips

  1. Do not panic or work yourself up to a hyper- state before examination.
  2. Retire to bed early the night before examination.
  3. Do not try to go through the entire syllabus in one evening before examination.Attempt to complete revision of the whole syllabus by afternoon before the examination date.
  4. Evening before the examination, try to recapitulate what you have studied and refer to study material to see only those things you cannot recall.
