St. Xavier's College (Autonomous), Kolkata in collaboration with the Department of Sports has organised the annual sports event, Xavier's Premier League 2023 to take place on the 15th and 16th of September with the inauguration that was held on 13th September at Fr. Depelchin auditorium. The sports event allows wide intramural participation and will cover events both on and off the field with two very new events being launched this year.

Furthermore, renowned talk show host and head of Friends 91.9 FM, Mr. Jimmy Tangree, took the helm as the moderator for a discussion session featuring the event's chief guest, Mr. Manoj Kothari, the 1990 World Billiards Champion, and recipient of the Dhyan Chand Award in 2005.
The inauguration promised to awaken the spirit of sportsmanship in the hearts of all those who gathered at the Fr. Depelchin auditorium on the impending day. Moreover, it introduced the magnificent teams, who have been fervently preparing for months in anticipation of the upcoming two days of sports extravagance, and their respective jersey releases.
While indoor events for Chess and Darts were introduced in 2022, this year Xavier’s Premier League unveils yet another two new events—volleyball and throwball. Of course, the events for Football, Basketball, Table Tennis, and E-Sports are not forgotten and still promise to deliver nail-biting showdowns and glorious results.
Moreover, a varied array of teams are to partake in the different sports events this year. Among them are the To add, XPL is also set to host exhibition matches between the current batches and alumni members, professors, & non-teaching staff.
Above all, Xavier’s Premier League 2023 commemorates that ceaseless collaboration that has always been a defining characteristic for its faculty and student body alike. While it remains to be seen who will lift the victor’s trophy, it is certain that each and every participating athlete will be dedicated to performing their best and offer to the audience and opponents an interesting and exciting match. As such, it is only natural that the closing ceremony and the subsequent award distribution, to be held on 16th September, is to be awaited with much anticipation.
The perfect shot, that impossible save, that winning move—all await in the arena of XPL 2023 and St. Xavier's College (Autonomous), Kolkata invites one and all to capture and cherish all these precious moments. As it has done for years, and will continue to do so in the years yet to come, Xavier’s Premier League sets the stage. All that is left to do? Act!
