St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous), Kolkata [Postgraduate and Research Department of Commerce] is going to organise a National Conference on Contemporary Issues in Business Education (NCCIBE) on the 12th of November in collaboration with the Department of Commerce, University of Kalyani at St. Xavier’s College.
This is the first national conference organised by the Postgraduate and Research Department of the college. Previously, the department had organised three international conferences on the theme of VUCA, an acronym for Volatility-Uncertainty- Complexity-Ambiguity. This year post-pandemic the department has ventured into conducting a national-level conference with support from the University of Kalyani on the theme of business education.
The New Education Policy introduced in 2020 has called for a paradigm shift in the world of academia in India. The department wanted to venture into the national conference for some time and it seemed fit to base the theme on business education, especially after the introduction and reception of the NEP, 2020.
Many eminent academicians are going to grace the inaugural session of the conference. This includes the Principal of St. Xavier’s College, Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio, SJ; Dr. S. K. Basu, Dean of the Postgraduate and Research Department of Commerce of the college; Prof. Andrew Dutta, Dean, (Academic), School of Human Resource Management, XIM University (Bhubaneswar) and Prof. Amalendu Bhunia, Professor and Dean, Faculty of Arts and Commerce, University of Kalyani. The inaugural session will include the release of the edited volume having the ISBN number, of the papers presented at the conference.
The inaugural session will be followed by a profound plenary session on the theme of the conference. The illustrious speakers for this segment include Prof. M. J. Xavier, Professor of Marketing and Business Analytics and the Chairperson of the Centre for Technology and Innovation, LIBA Chennai, Ex-Director, IIM Ranchi; Prof. Andrew Dutta, Dean, (Academic), School of Human Resource Management, XIM University (Bhubaneswar); Prof. Sunil Kumar Gandhi, Professor, Department of Commerce, University of Kalyani; Prof. P. K. Samanta, Professor and HOD, Department of Commerce, University of Kalyani; and the moderator for the session will be Prof. Sharmistha Banerjee, Professor, Department of Management, University of Calcutta.
The paper presentation sessions or the technical sessions follow after this, having sessions on Accounting and Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, and General Management. The technical sessions are also going to be chaired by some distinguished professors like Prof. Uttam Dutta of Netaji Subhas Open University, Prof Debansu Das of University of Kalyani, Prof. Mohua Banerjee, Director of IMI Kolkata, Prof. Subhas Sarkar of University of Kalyani and Prof. Sharmistha Banerjee of the University of Calcutta.
