St. Xavier's University Celebrates Annual Sport Day; Read Full Details Here

St. Xavier's University, Kolkata Annual Sports Day was held on February 3, 2024, at the university playground. A plethora of events for men and women was organised on the occasion. The university students, faculty, alumni members, and support staff took active part in various events with great zeal and enthusiasm.

Brigadier R.K.Singh, Deputy General Officer Commanding, Headquarters, Bengal Sub-Area graced the occasion as chief guest. The army band comprising the Pipes and Drums of 4/9, Gorkha Rifles (CHINDITS) and Bihar Regiment enthralled the audience with their musical note. The parade of the students, faculty, alumni members, and support staff was led by the army contingent.

Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, Rev. Dr. John Felix Raj said, "students need to participate in sports along with their pursuit for academic excellence." Whereas, Brigadier R.K.Singh, Deputy General Commanding Officer, complimented the university authority for orchestration of this event with utmost care and perfection. He even urged the student's community to introspect themselves to emerge as champions in various facets of life. Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, Rev. Dr John Felix Raj announced the introduction of scholarships to the best athletes men and women on the Occasion.

He further said, "St. Xavier's firmly believes in holistic formation of men and women and nurturing them into a good human being with values and principles."

Rev Dr. John Felix Raj, also encouraged students to take active part in various extra-curricular activities along with their quest for academics. Mr.Arguish Hossain of Xavier Law School and Miss Nushra Rahaman of Mass Communication Department bagged the best men and women athlete award of the year. They are also the proud recipients of the first sports scholarship in the portals of St. Xavier's University, Kolkata.
