St. Augustine’s Day School, Barrackpore had the honour of hosting Mr. Dhanushkodhi Sivanandhan (IPS), the former Police Commissioner of Mumbai, Thane, and Nagpur. The 'Super Cop’ visited the school on October 10, 2023. The purpose of his visit was to conduct an engaging interactive session on 'Positive Cyber Leadership' with the students of class 12.

His arrival was greeted by the Student Council as he first toured the school campus. Following that, he joined the Student Council and School Heads for a luncheon. Mr. Sivanandhan did not fail to amuse us with his hilarious anecdotes throughout the meal.

After lunch, he had an interactive session with the Student Council. The 'Top Cop' introduced himself with a brief description of his career, followed by his deep appreciation for Barrackpore's historical significance, including the Mangal Pandey Park and Lady Canning's tomb. He emphasised the importance of schools organising historical visits to these places to instil an understanding of Barrackpore's historical significance among students.

He talked about his NGO, 'Mumbai Roti Bank,' and its origins. Mr. Sivanandhan believes that "a country will only become a superpower when it solves the long-standing issue of poverty," and therefore, he initiated the Roti Bank initiative. Today, Mumbai Roti Bank has provided more than 12 crore meals to poverty-stricken individuals across eight cities.

In his interactive session with the class 12 students, carefully addressing various types of cybercrimes prevalent in today's world and how to successfully prevent them. The insights and wisdom he shared enlightened all the students, making it a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for them. In the words of our School's President, Mrs. Janet Gasper Chowdhury, "It's not every day that you meet a person on whom a film has been made, and the actor who played the person won a Filmfare award for the role," as she welcomed the presence of the intellectual Mr. Sivanandhan.

Sreeja Biswas, Netaji House Prefect, says, "Never in my life did I think I would meet such an eminent person who has not only dedicated his life to the citizens but has also successfully fought against the underworld. I can't thank my school enough for providing me with such an incredible opportunity."

Surmit Kumar Choudhury, School Captain, remarks, "Probably the best session I've ever had at school. Shiva Sir's intellect and diverse knowledge allowed me to connect with him, while his occasional humorous remarks had me in fits of laughter. He is, in the truest sense, the kind of person India needs today."

The students were extremely grateful and awed to have experienced the presence of a man of such stature during the hour-long workshop.
