RCC Institute of Information Technology, one of the oldest and premier engineering colleges in Kolkata, accredited by NAAC (grade B+) and has four NBA accredited B.Tech programs, is dedicated to serve the nation by generating potential human resource following guidelines of NEP 2020. A major initiative has been taken by the Institute to fulfil the mission is to organise Smart Bengal Hackathon (SBH) state-wide which gives a platform not only to the undergraduate students to showcase their innovativeness, but also to the senior level school students where solution of real-life problems can be addressed for scientific solutions for the benefit of mankind, and therefore civilisation. The event is scheduled on 11 – 12 April 2023 with major technical and financial support by the Department of Information Technology and Electronics, Govt. of West Bengal. Apart from that, ISTE, IE(I), IEEE CIS Chapter, CSI Kolkata, IETE are some of the other technical collaborators of this mega event with TCS as knowledge partner and skilling partner NASSCOM FS Prime. The event is sponsored by CDAC Kolkata, with silver sponsored by NRI FinTech and Taskade and Tectes Technologies.
Several industries and start-ups like Novacle, Syscentric, Websoft IoT, NextMedIT are a few notable among them. The Telegraph Online Edugraph is the media partner of this great societal initiative along with radio partner 91.9 friends FM. Among the 425 ideas submitted from college level, 71 are shortlisted for the final round after peer-review by technical experts; whereas only 27 teams are considered from schools. Probably the event will lay the foundation of a great journey towards the future for the betterment of the underprivileged of our Society, and with that note, success of the program lies. The Mission and Vision of RCCIIT is directed for producing quality human beings not only from a technological aspect, but should also look for development of Society and Civilization. SBH is a stepping stone towards that.
