'I want to represent India in 2028 Olympics', says Vanshika Chaturvedi, 18 under 18 winner

Starting her sporting journey at the tender age of eight, Vanshika, an excellent martial artist, has excelled in every tournament she has participated in. Not only at the nationals, Vanshika has also proved her mettle in the international arena, winning several gold and silver medals for four consecutive years. This makes her the rightful winner of The Telegraph Online Edugraph 18 under 18 awards.

"I am grateful to The Telegraph Online Edugraph for choosing me as one of the winners of 18 under 18 awards, 2024. With this award, the sport has earned huge recognition. It was a dream for me to win the award. However, I couldn't make it to the top 50 finalists in the earlier editions," said Vanshika.

Her first international tournament was in Singapore where she performed brilliantly and secured the second position. This was followed by the Commonwealth Championships held in South Africa where she won the bronze medal.

Currently preparing for her board examinations, Vanshika has also been a multitasking student managing her studies and sports since the age of 10. She also aspires to represent India at the 2028 Olympic Games

"I want to represent my country at the Olympic Games 2028," she said sharing her future aspirations with The Telegraph Online Edugraph.

"I would also like to take up coaching in the future and train young boys and girls and prepare them to become future Karatekas," said the Sri Sri Academy student.

The Class 12 student wishes to take up sports management for higher education wishes to become a coach as well as a sports administrator.

Apart from Karate, Vanshika also regular at basketball, swimming and is a fantastic dancer.

"The award has added a new dimension and impact on my profile. I shall now be called 18 under 18 Awardee and it has turned my path," the 17-year-old added.
