He adored reading for leisure and he adored literature. Young and still getting used to the English language, he was given access to bright picture books which later helped him master the language. Our young achiever of the day is Shashwat Das, a class 5 student of Garden High School, who has ranked 2nd at the International English Olympiad. “My English teacher Purbita Chowdhury Ma’am from Garden High School really helped me to prepare for the exam. She explained everything and helped me to understand the subject.”
Books opened a whole new world for him, some of them fictional, some real, drawn from the worlds of science, history, philosophy, or general life. They gave him a chance to ‘meet’ individuals whose opinions, way of life, and experiences he could connect with.
However, an Olympiad requires some preparation as well. So we asked Shashwat how he prepped himself for the test: “I think the Reading section and the Achiever section were the most important out of all the questions that were asked in the exams. I started preparing for these Olympiad exams about two months prior to the exams”.

Besides literature, what other interests does Shashwat have? His life's goal is to use automation or robotics to make human existence better, simpler, and easier. He wishes to aid in the robot revolution of the coming generation. “I like to solve Rubik’s cubes, ride my bicycle, and read story books in my free time. I wish to be a robotics engineer in the near future.”

The Telegraph Online Edugraph also spoke to Mahabir Singh, Founder and Director of SOF who congratulated Shashwat for his outstanding achievements in the Olympiad and added that each student’s “hard work, dedication, and passion had led to their remarkable success, and they should be incredibly proud of themselves.” When asked to speak about the Olympiad initiatives taken by SOF, he said that these exams aim to improve problem-solving ability and analytical thinking skills of students. The Olympiad is a platform that showcases the best of the best, and students have risen to the occasion, showcasing their skills and abilities on a global stage.

SOF has conducted Olympiad exams for 25 years. Over 70,000 schools from 1,400 cities in 70 different countries took part in the seven SOF Olympiad exams from 22 - 23 February, and millions of students registered to sit for them. The top state level rankings of more than 81,000 pupils from 6,300 schools have earned them awards. Additionally, Gold Medals of Excellence have been given to almost 100,000 pupils for receiving the highest grade in their individual schools and our young achiever of the day is one of them.
