The Faculty of Commerce & Management, St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata in collaboration with the Alumni Association (SXUAA) conducted a two-day workshop on “Mastering Business Fundamentals: Strategies for Success in a Competitive Landscape” on the 15th and 16th of June, 2023. The workshop served as a dynamic platform for participants to enhance their understanding of key concepts, exchange ideas, and acquire practical insights from industry experts and academicians in today's rapidly evolving business landscape. The flow of events throughout the workshop was meticulously planned to ensure maximum engagement and value for all attendees.
The workshop commenced with an opening ceremony, featuring an introduction of the two-day programme by the convener and Head of the Department of Commerce, Dr. Mitra Goswami. The inaugural session also witnessed a series of interactive sessions between the participants, organizers and dignitaries. The first day of the workshop encompassed diverse topics such as developing a business plan and exploring funding options, the implication of law in business, blockchain and cryptocurrency, hands-on training on data crunching to real-time decision making, and B-Quiz followed by practical exercises on public relations. Through interactive sessions, case studies, and networking opportunities, participants gained a deeper understanding of key principles and best practices that drive business growth and sustained success.

The second day of the workshop had sessions dedicated to enhancing students’ understanding of the role and relevance of academia in industry. This deliberation was followed by an interactive practical exercise on strategic management that included a stock market simulation that challenged the participants' cognitive ability and logical reasoning. A session on six sigma and business process re-engineering enlightened the students on reinventing a whole business end-to-end model and focused on the application of theoretical knowledge to real-life situations.
The workshop concluded with a closing ceremony, where participants were acknowledged for their active participation throughout the event and were encouraged to embrace the spirit of learning and collaboration.
