The CISCE National Games and Sports, 2024 Table Tennis Tournament for Girls (U-14, U-17 & U-19) was held at Julien Day School, Kalyani, from September 27 to September 29, marking a significant achievement for the host school, which boasted of hosting National Games the second time in a row, reflecting the school’s commitment to promoting sports and providing a platform for budding talents. This prestigious event drew participants from various schools across the country, showcasing exceptional talent and sportsmanship among young female players.

The inauguration program of the Table Tennis Tournament commenced with great enthusiasm, setting the tone for an exciting event. The ceremony began with a warm welcome by the hosts, followed by the arrival of esteemed guests, including Sarmi Sengupta, the Guest of Honour and Subrata De, the special guest, who are prominent figures in the sports world.

The event kicked off with the flag hoisting ceremony and singing of the National Anthem. A welcome speech was delivered by Mr. Terence John, the Director of Education & Development, of Julien Day group of schools, acknowledging the participating teams and expressing gratitude to the organizing school. The show was further beautified with cultural performances from students of the host school, showcasing the diverse talents and adding a festive atmosphere to the event.

The Guest of Honour delivered an inspiring speech, encouraging the young athletes to strive for excellence, maintain sportsmanship, and enjoy the competitive spirit of the game. With a formal announcement, the tournament was declared open. Eleven states and nearly 160 students participated in this prestigious event.

There were team games and singles for each region. Each player showed a thrilling display of skill, endurance, and competition. In the team games, the first position in the U14 category was bagged by teams from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Maharashtra and Goa secured the first position in the U17 category while West Bengal and North East won the first position in the U19 category.

Among the singles, Devashree Tarde from Maharashtra and Goa of U19, Preksha T Tilwala from Karanataka of U17 and Dnyanashree Tarde from Maharashtra and Goa of U14 secured the first position respectively. The players competed with enthusiasm and ignited the passion for the game with their remarkable smashes and deliveries.

The atmosphere in the table tennis tournament buzzed with excitement as the audience erupted in cheers and gasped with each rally. Spectators were on the edge of their seats, captivated by the player's swift footwork and precise shots. Every shot ignited a wave of applause, while tense moments collectively held their breath.

The audience and the teams appreciated the way the event was organized and are looking forward to experience such events in the future. The matches ended with roars of appreciation and thunderous applause from the myriad with an enigmatic smile.
