The Golden Jubilee Year of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra and the International Millet Year was held at the Cooch Behar Krishi Vigyan Kendra with the help of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Kolkata.
Dr. Himanshu Pathak, Hon'ble Director General of Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Dr. Pradip Dey, Hon'ble Director of Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Kolkata, Dr. Swarup Kumar Chakraborty, Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor of Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya, Honorable Director of Extension Education of Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya, Prof. Prabhat Kumar Pal along with various agricultural scientists of the country and about 200 farmer, farm women, and rural youth were present on this occasion. Apart from this event, the farmers of the Cooch Behar and Alipurduar districts were honored on the occasion of the golden jubilee year of Krishi Vigyan Kendra.
Dr. Himanshu Pathak, Hon'ble Director General of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research- New Delhi said that the only way to extend agricultural technology from Agricultural Research Institute to the farmers is through Krishi Vigyan Kendra and farmers should be trained more and participate in the economic development of the rural areas. Along with this, he also said that farmers are the main strength of Krishi Vigyan Kendra and the role of farmers should be increased in the expansion of agricultural science.
