A total of 2011 students (1605 Male and 406 Female) from the Silver Jubilee batch of the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati received their degrees in various disciplines today (4th July 2023) during the 25th Convocation Ceremony.
Pradnesh Prasad Kalkar (B.Tech, Computer Science and Engineering) achieved the top score in the entire BTech/BDes batch and was awarded the President of India Gold Medal. Amey Ramesh Rambatla (B.Tech, Biotechnology) won the Shankar Dayal Sharma Gold Medal. Among the graduating class, 20 students are Persons with Disabilities.

The graduating students include:
- 816 B.Tech. and B.Des. students
- 659 M.Tech. and M.Des. students
- 298 PhD students
- 233 M.A., M.Sc. & MS(R) students
- 5 Dual Degrees (Masters + PhD) students
Jagdeep Dhankhar, Hon’ble Vice President of India graced the occasion as Chief Guest along with Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, Hon’ble Governor of Assam and Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma. Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam as the Guests of Honour. Dr. Rajiv I. Modi, Chairman, Board of Governor, IIT Guwahati, presided over the event.
Presenting the Convocation Report, Prof. Parameswar K. Iyer, Officiating Director, IIT Guwahati, said, “On the Twenty-Fifth Convocation Ceremony, I am delighted to share that IIT Guwahati is scaling heights and setting new standards in all domains. The Centre for Sustainable Water Research is one such example that will bring scientific tools to cater the sustainable use of water in the region as well as for the whole country”.

Delivering the Convocation address, Chief Guest, Jagdeep Dhankhar, Hon’ble Vice-President of India, said, “My congratulations to the graduating class. Alumni are the strength of an Institution and you all are the richest think-tank of IIT Guwahati.”
Meanwhile, the Chief Guest said, "With its constant efforts to be the best educational and research Institute, IIT Guwahati is on an Incremental trajectory for almost 3 decades. In the same spirit, I am glad to announce that the Indian Council of World Affairs will get into a collaboration with IIT Guwahati next month. “
Addressing the students, Guest of Honour, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, Governor of Assam, said, "On a personal level, this is my first experience of witnessing 2011 degrees being conferred to students in a Convocation ceremony. I am very happy to be a part of this landmark achievement. The efforts being made by IIT Guwahati for the implementation of NEP 2020 are notable. On this 25th convocation day, I extend my heartiest congratulations to the Class of 2023. “
Speaking during the event, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam, said, “My dear graduating students of IIT Guwahati, never stop dreaming, nurture your curiosity and cherish the values that the institute has helped to instil in you. Let the ethics and values of the Institute guide you at every step of your life. IIT Guwahati has been making the region and the nation very proud by repeatedly making its mark in national and international levels”.
During the reporting year, IIT Guwahati started an advanced certification programme in Digital Supply Chain Management that is designed for graduates and diploma holders looking to upskill and gain better employment opportunities in Digital Supply Chain Management.
IIT Guwahati has retained the 7th and 8th rank among the best ‘Engineering’ and ‘Overall’ Institutions of the country in the ‘India Rankings 2022’, declared by National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF).
