Bhavan’s Gangabux Kanoria Vidyamandir proudly hosted its second edition of EDUNXT, an educational fest with a difference on the 25and 26of November 2022. About 16 reputed schools of Kolkata like La Martiniere for Boys, Sushila Birla Girls, Adamas International, Abhinav Bharati, etc. participated in this event. EDUNXT is a unique fest, as it is completely career oriented and gives the students an insight into the outside world – the world beyond their school gates. The events of EDUXT have been framed so as to inculcate critical, strategic, and innovative thinking among the participating students. The overarching aim is to develop an entrepreneurial spirit among students where they are prepared to think big and act on bold ideas with a positive and proactive approach.
The two days of the fest were packed with various entertaining and enlightening events. The first day saw EDUBIZ, which mainly focused on the students of the commerce and humanities streams. It was to increase the student’s awareness about the Indian and global economy, throwing light on both the opportunities and challenges in the world of commerce. A number of eminent personalities came and shared the stories behind their success to motivate and inspire the gathering.
An advertisement is a potential tool that a skillful entrepreneur can use to achieve radical growth in business. Keeping this in mind the first event of the day EDSPOOF, was designed, mainly, to test the imaginative limits of the participants who put forward and demonstrated stimulating advertisements. The next event was EDTECH which was mainly to bring our attention to such problems that our nation faces today. The event of EDJAM, or Just a Minute to Fame, intended to provide a platform for the participants to share their views on a topic relevant to today’s business scenario. One of the two participants from each school spoke in favour of the motion, while the other spoke against it. The next event named EDBID was meant to test the participants’ prudence when it comes to the art of bidding. This was a highly energetic and innovative event that the students enjoyed.
The second day was for EDUQUEST which was dedicated to providing an impetus to the science students. The day began with the EDUTALK, which was a Science Career Talk by eminent scientists from the field of basic sciences and technology. Dr. Sudip Kundu (Professor at the Department of Biophysics, Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics of the University of Calcutta) and Dr.
Tarun Kr. Mondal (Senior professor of the School of Chemical Science, Indian Association for Cultivation of Science) spoke eloquently about the future prospects of Science students. The next event was QUEST FOR SCIENCE, which was an Inter School Quiz Competition on Fundamental Science, dedicated to the ‘International Year of Basic Sciences for Sustainable Development.’
