Delhi Public School, New Town organised a two-day long inter-school fest ‘Ýuvakarshan 2023’ at the school premises on October 10 and 11. The mega event witnessed participation from students of classes 9 to 12 across city schools.

A total of twelve schools, including Birla High School, DPS Megacity, Bhawanipur Gujarati Education Society and Heritage Academy participated. Yuvakarshan 2023 provided students with an opportunity to showcase their talents not only in sports and academics but also in cultural categories like singing and dancing.

While sporting events included cricket, football, lawn tennis and chess, the cultural events, on the other hand, included band performances, fashion shows, a short-film making competition, dance, antakshari and digital art by the participating schools. Students were also provided the opportunity to participate in several academic events including Tech -v-Fy, where students created various programmes using platforms like Java, C++ and Python.

A competition named Yuvakarshan Stock Exchange was also held, which the organisers claimed to be the first of its kind in any of the city schools. This competition allowed participants to showcase their investing skills and gain the maximum profit in a real-time equity trading scenario.

“The whole idea behind Yuvakarshan 2023 is to bring the youth together where they can exchange their ideas, work with each other and build a friendship and learn from each other. The same theme is being expressed in different manners by different students. So, they are learning and finding out ways to improve themselves,” said Sonali Sen, the Principal of DPS New Town.

“We believe in the overall development of a student. Hence we have also included fun activities like Antakshari, band performances. These activities act as stress busters for students. We have organised not only sporting events, but also several serious competitions including distress dialogues,computer coding,” she added.

The entire event has been organised by the students under the supervision of the teachers of the school and are learning to manage things and work together as part of a team, she added.

“We have been preparing for the event for a couple of months. It was a total team effort where we decided on the events of the fest along with organising and managing the course of the events in a smooth manner,” said Aaratrika Ghosh, a student.

Ambica Mehra, the Vice Principal of the school on the other hand thanked the schools for participating in this mega event and making it a grand success. Speaking to Edugraph she said, “Yuvakarshan, through a myriad of events, showcases and celebrates the powerhouses of talent that the young learners of our city are. This year's edition is special as we are holding it after a long time. The event's success is evident from the participation of so many schools itself. I thank all the different institutions for their involvement in Yuvakarshan.”
