Debdutta Majhi, of Katwa Durgadasi Chaudhurani Girls High School has just made a place for herself in history – by securing the first rank in the WBBSE Madhyamik 2023 exams. The Telegraph Online Edugraph spoke to Debdutta soon after she received the news. She says that she feels very good to have been able to secure the rank.
Speaking to us over the phone, the girl from Purba Burdwan confirmed that she had to put in considerable effort in studying for the final exams. She says she had to self-study with commitment, but the assistance and guidelines she received from her teachers helped her. She had expected to come within the first 10 ranks – however, the fact that she will top the exam was not something she had considered.

Of course her hard work has been unparalleled, but she would also like to thank her mother, Shelly Dan, who is also a teacher at the same school, as well as her other teachers and tutors for their support and direction.
She wants to go on to the next stage and enrol for HS with Maths, Physics and Chemistry as her main subjects. It also comes as no surprise that this bright young girl aspires to get into IIT and go on to become a successful engineer in the future.
We also spoke to Debdutta’s headmistress, Kabita Sarkar, expressed her happiness at Debdutta’s achievement and sent her best wishes.
We at The Telegraph Online Edugraph also congratulate Debdutta and wish her the very best!
