The much-anticipated CBSE Cluster II Football Tournament 2023 is set to commence from today 10th October, 2023-2024, at the prestigious Aditya Academy Secondary in Barasat. This thrilling four-day event will witness the inauguration today, followed by intense football matches scheduled from the 11th to the 13th of October. The event shall be graced by distinguished dignitaries like Anirban Dutta, Secretary of the Indian Football Association (IFA), Debjit Ghosh, Former Indian Footballer, Shilton Paul, Indian Footballer, the Police Officer-in-Charge of Barasat, the Superintendent of Police, and the District Magistrate.
The event promises to be a grand spectacle, featuring the participation of several renowned schools, including Aditya Academy Secondary, Barasat (host school), Aditya Academy Sr. Secondary, Dum Dum, Techno India Group Public School, Siliguri, Krishnagar Public School, Vivekananda Mission High School, ODM Global School, Hebron School, New Rangia, and many more from different states. A total of 50 teams from various schools have already registered for this prestigious competition.
In a bid to promote sportsmanship and provide equal opportunities to students across different age groups, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) had previously released circular outlining guidelines for the 2023-24 sports events. These guidelines aim to ensure fair and transparent participation, not only at the Cluster level but also at the Zonal and National levels.
Under these guidelines, rewards will be bestowed upon exceptional talent in sports. Students securing the first and second positions in individual sports events, as well as winners and first runners-up in team games at the Cluster and Zonal levels, will earn the opportunity to compete in CBSE Nationals for their respective categories and age groups. Special considerations have been extended to Chess, Shooting, and Yogasana competitions, with top teams and individuals also vying for the chance to represent their schools at the national level.
Furthermore, CBSE remains committed to supporting schools in organizing sports events by providing sports grants at both the Cluster/Zonal and National levels. Organizing schools, such as Aditya Academy Secondary, Barasat, will receive these sports grants from the CBSE Board as a token of appreciation for their dedication and efforts in fostering sportsmanship and healthy competition among the youth.
