XLRI- Xavier School of Management, Jamshedpur, will host its 66th Annual Convocation offline on April 23.
The institute will bid final farewell to 497 graduating students — among those who will receive their diplomas are 176 students of Postgraduate Programme in Business Management, 189 students of Postgraduate Programme in HR Management, 93 students of the 15-month PGDM (General Management) Programme; 11 students of the Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) and 37 students of the 2019-2022 batch of PGDM-BM Programme (evening).
“The convocation ceremony is a significant and huge step towards the future. The accomplishments of our students during a worldwide pandemic wouldn’t have been possible without the efforts of XLRI family — the governing body, faculty members, staff, students and alumni,” said Fr. Paul Fernandes S.J., director, XLRI.
T. V. Narendran, chairman of the board of governors at XLRI and MD, Tata Steel India and South East Asia, spoke about XLRI. “Established in 1949, XLRI has consistently striven to uphold its mission of shaping business leaders who are competent, yet uphold high personal values and societal concern. XLRI will confer the Sir Jehangir Ghandy Medal for Industrial and Social Peace on Preetha Reddy, executive vice-chairperson, Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited, this year. She will also deliver the convocation address to the graduating students at the event.
Reddy is widely recognised for her contribution towards making quality healthcare accessible to millions and for her support to various entities and industry bodies working for the betterment of India. She works closely with the organisation’s 11,000 clinicians in introducing contemporary protocols to continuously enhance clinical outcomes. She leads the thrust on quality improvement processes to achieve the highest standards in patient satisfaction.
Earlier recipients of the Sir Jehangir Ghandy medal include Arundhati Bhattacharya, chairperson, State Bank of India, in 2014; Mallika Srinivasan, chairperson and CEO, TAFE (Tractors and Farm Equipment Limited), in 2015; Sunil Kant Munjal, joint managing director of Hero Moto Corp, and chairman of Hero Corporate Services, in 2016; Adi Godrej, chairman, The Godrej Group, in 2017; T.V. Mohandas Pai, chairman, Manipal Global Education and Aarin Capital, president of AIMA, in 2018; Anu Aga, former chairperson of Thermax Ltd, in 2019; Sanjiv Mehta, chairman and MD, Hindustan Unilever Ltd., in 2020; and Sandeep Kataria, Global CEO, Bata Corporation, in 2021.
