UGC NET Eligibility 2023 – Educational Qualification
- Applicants must have secured at least 55 per cent marks in master’s degree exams. However, a relaxation of five per cent is given to applicants belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Other Backward Class (OBC)/Persons with Disability (PwD)/Transgender category. Hence applicants from these categories need only 50 percent aggregate marks in their master’s degree exams.
- Applicants further must have completed their post-graduation from a UGC recognised college/university in relevant streams.
- Applicants appearing in or awaiting results for the final year examination of master’s degree are also at present considered eligible to apply online for the UGC NET exam. However, they will be admitted provisionally and will further be considered eligible only if they pass their master’s exam with the required percentage. “Such candidates must complete their PG degree examination within two years from the date of NET result with required percentage of marks, failing which they shall be treated as disqualified”, states the official website.
- PhD degree holders who completed their master’s exams on 19 September 1991 will be for a relaxation of five per cent marks in their aggregate.
