B.D.M. International was the proud host school for the CBSE Regional Science Exhibition 2024 under the Bhubaneswar Region for West Bengal. The exhibition spanning two days 8th and 9th of November 2024 was one of the biggest science exhibitions held in the city. One forty-five students (145) from fifty-two (52) CBSE schools from the Eastern Zone with seventy-six (76) eye-catching exhibits participated in this exhibition.
The exhibition featured two categories: Category 1 for grades VI-VIII and Category 2 for grades IX-XI. The Science Exhibition 2024-25 centered on the theme, "Science and Technology for a Sustainable Future." Projects explored diverse sub-themes, including Food, Health and Hygiene, Transport and Communication, Natural Farming, Disaster Management, Mathematical Modelling and Computational Thinking, Waste Management, and Resource Management.
Shri. Anurag Kumar, Director at Science City, Kolkata, and Prof. Arun Kumar Majumdar, a former professor at IIT Kharagpur, were the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour respectively.
The distinguished panel of judges, included Prof. Geetanjali Sundaram, Associate Professor, University of Calcutta; Prof. Dr. Gopal Chandra Shit, Professor Jadavpur University; Dr. Prasanta Kumar Sinha, Senior Principal Scientist Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute; Dr. Prasanta Kumar Biswas, Professor Jadavpur University; Dr. Aniruddha Nag, Associate Professor Techno India Group and Dr. Gupinath Bhandari, Associate Professor, Department of Civil Engineering and Coordinator, Centre for Disaster Preparedness and Management, Jadavpur University.
The Science Exhibition 2024-25 began on 8th November with a grand inaugural session, starting with the traditional lamp-lighting ceremony.
The school choir presented a beautiful medley of songs highlighting the role of youth in shaping the future of the nation.
The Principal, Ms. Madhumita Sengupta, warmly welcomed the distinguished guests and extended her congratulations to all participating teams for their enthusiasm. She expressed confidence in the young minds, stating that “the world is in safe hands as students are the usherers of new hope.” The Chief Guest and Guest of Honour congratulated the CBSE for conceptualising such an exhibition and shared their best wishes, appreciating the students’ enthusiasm and innovative projects.
The Valedictory Session on 9th November 2024 concluded the event on a high note, with each esteemed judge sharing their insights from the past two days and commending the scientific temperament of the participating students and their dedicated mentor teachers. The much-awaited announcement of the results followed shortly after.
A total of 14 schools were recognised for representing in the National Level Competition, with 7 schools selected from each category. The winning schools in Category 1 were:

Through the vote of thanks, B.D.M. International extended its heartfelt gratitude to CBSE for being entrusted with the responsibility of hosting the Regional Science Exhibition 2024. Appreciation was also conveyed to the esteemed jury members for their invaluable encouragement and insightful guidance, as well as to the students and mentor teachers for their tireless enthusiasm and unwavering dedication. Gratitude was also expressed to everyone whose efforts contributed to the success of the event. The two exciting days concluded with the National Anthem.
