A Joint Review Mission has been established by the ministry of education to assess how Pradhan Mantri Poshan Shakti Nirman (PM POSHAN) is being implemented in West Bengal in the month of January 2023.

Members of the Joint Review Mission are officers from the state government, the government of India, and nutrition specialists.

The team will examine how the plan has been put into action at the state, district, and school levels for a set period of time according to established objectives. Additionally, the assessment will look at how much money the state gives to schools, whether management structures are available, how delivery works, and how much food costs.

The parliamentary standing committee reported in March of last year that the administration only allocated 57 percent of its budget to PM Poshan. Their observations show that against an allocation of Rs 11,500 crore, Rs 6,660 crore was used.

In addition to examining how the PM POSHAN system is being implemented, it will also evaluate the nutritional components by determining whether students are undernourished by taking their height, weight, and mid-arm circumference. The experts will also provide recommendations for nutrient-balanced, region-specific recipes after evaluating the standard and quantity of food provided under the PM POSHAN programme.

Additionally, they will be looking at how kitchen-cum-stores are built, how kitchen appliances are bought and replaced, and how non-governmental organisations are involved (NGOs). The community's participation in PM POSHAN implementation and the role of teachers will be assessed by the Joint Review Mission.
