National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jamshedpur will conduct the NIT MCA Common Entrance Test (NIMCET 2022) for the first time.

NIT director Karunesh Shukla said that the examination will be conducted online with the help of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). The online application can be filled out between April 4 and May 4. On June 20, the exam will be conducted online in 29 cities, including Jamshedpur, Bhubaneshwar, Patna, Ranchi, Guwahati, Muzaffarpur, Calcutta.

Results will be declared on July 5, 2022 and classes will start in August.

The national-level test will determine the admission to the Master of Computer Applications (MCA) programme to the nine NITs at Agartala, Allahabad, Bhopal, Jamshedpur, Kurukshetra, Raipur, Surathkal, Tiruchirappalli (Trichy), and Warangal for the year 2022-23.

“NIT Jamshedpur has got the responsibility of organising NIMCET for the first time. This is the reason that the institute is making full preparations for its proper organisation. It is the effort of the institute that the results come on July 5 and the classes of the students should start from August. There are a total of 813 seats in the exam out of which 314 seats are general. On the other hand, if we talk about Jamshedpur, then its share is 115 seats. The provision of reservation will be as per the Central government standards and there is no provision of home quota,” said director Karunesh Shukla.

From 2022, a new integrated degree programme will start in which students will be able to do BTech and MTech at the NIT. Other subjects including Artificial Intelligence (AI) will be focused on. Presently this course is available in IIT Delhi.
