The Postgraduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB) received 2,828 applications from medical colleges for recognition and renewal of PG medical qualifications last year, according to the most recent notification from the NMC.

According to the commission, the PG medical board has already decided on 1,870 petitions, and the remaining requests are still being processed. Additionally, it stated that based on the NEET 2023 exam held for postgraduate medical admission, the NEET PG counselling 2023 will'soon' start. The available broad speciality seats with the medical colleges that are now accredited and approved will therefore be taken into consideration for admission in the academic year 2023–2024. It further stated that "the medical colleges may reduce the number of seats in special circumstances" and that the seat matrix would be established appropriately.
