In line with the policy changes introduced in a June 26, 2024, letter from the Directorate General Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS), the MCC will handle AFMS counselling for Priority III, IV, and V candidates applying to AFMS PG Teaching Institutes.

Key eligibility updates include:

  • Priority 3 & 4 Candidates: DGAFMS will screen and submit eligibility lists to MCC for these candidates.
  • Priority 5 Candidates: Civilians applying under this category will receive seat allotments based on a merit-cum-choice model, contingent on seat availability. Provisional allotments require candidates to undergo a medical examination at the assigned AFMS institute, with only those passing the medical assessment receiving final admission.

AFMS PG Institutes: Eligibility Conditions for Civilians

AFMS PG Teaching Institutes are primarily intended to train in-service medical officers of the Armed Forces Medical Services to meet the organisation’s specialist needs. Civilian doctors gaining admission to MD, MS, or DNB programmes at these institutions are required to serve a five-year tenure as Short Service Commissioned Officers (SSC) within AFMS.

After the AFMS-specific requirements are satisfied, any remaining seats will be allocated based on the priority list as follows:

  • Priority 1 - AFMS officers on Advanced Specialist or PG courses.
  • Priority 2 - Foreign students sponsored by the government and AFMS officers granted study leave.
  • Priority 3 - Medical officers sponsored by paramilitary or government organisations.
  • Priority 4 - Ex-SSC AFMS officers within three years of service release.
  • Priority 5 - Civilian candidates.

The revised NEET PG counselling brochure emphasises crucial details regarding candidate eligibility, the cancellation policy, and required certificates for admission through the AFMS and NEET PG counselling process.

Candidates are encouraged to monitor the official MCC website and stay updated on any potential changes impacting their admission.
