Today, September 26, 2024, marks the final day to register without a late fee for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2025. Interested candidates who have not yet submitted their applications can do so through the official GOAPS (Gate Online Application Processing System). However, an additional opportunity will be provided to the applicants to complete registration by paying a late fee by October 7, 2024.
Exam Zones
GATE 2025 examination will have no international centres, all the candidates wishing to appear will have to travel to India to sit for the test. They must also note that while selecting exam centres, they will have the option to choose only three cities from the same GATE 2025 zones. The eight exam zones are as follows;
- Zone 1: IISc Bengaluru
- Zone 2: IIT Bombay
- Zone 3: IIT Delhi
- Zone 4: IIT Guwahati
- Zone 5: IIT Kanpur
- Zone 6: IIT Kharagpur
- Zone 7: IIT Madras
- Zone 8: IIT Roorkee
The exam will comprise a total of 65 questions, split between General Aptitude (10 questions) and the core subject (55 questions). Candidates will have three hours to complete the exam, which carries a total of 100 marks. It is important to note that the GATE score remains valid for three years, providing flexibility for students in planning their academic and professional futures.
GATE is a national-level examination conducted jointly by the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and the Indian Institutes of Science (IISc) Bengaluru. It is primarily for admission to postgraduate programmes (ME/MTech/PhD) offered by IITs, IISc, and other institutions. Additionally, many public sector undertakings (PSUs) use GATE scores for recruitment.
