Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has invited applications for its Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme for the academic year 2022-2023. The last date to apply online for the two-year programme is January 31.
IIT Kanpur has recently recorded a 100% placement for the outgoing MBA 2020-22 batch with a growth of 22.5% in the average package offered in comparison to last year’s placements, the institute stated in a press communique.
Candidates will be evaluated based on their sectional Common Aptitude Test (CAT) percentile scores, academic background, and work experience, a notification on the official website of IIT Kanpur said.
The MBA programme falls under the department of Industrial and Management Engineering (IME) at IIT Kanpur. Set up in 1974, the IME Department is one of the first in the country to recognise the potential of incorporating management studies in the curriculum of engineers.
With this vision, the MBA programme was started in 2001 and since its inception, the programme has achieved many milestones. Last year, MBA IIT Kanpur was ranked 16th in the National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2021 in management category.
The curriculum Is regularly revised and kept updated with the changing needs of the industry. Courses are offered in different domains including Marketing Management, Finance and Economics, Human Resource Management, Production and Operations Management, Data Analytics and Information Systems, and Policy. Additionally, students can choose research-level courses offered at the department and courses on allied areas of business offered at the institute level.
The institute’s Capstone Project is a unique student-industry engagement wherein the students work with organisations on solving real-world business problems under the joint mentorship of industry experts and IIT Kanpur faculty. The MBA programme requires students to do a summer internship at the end of the first year. Summer internships are offered in a wide array of business settings that include private industries, government institutions, startups and NGOs. Students pursue winter internships after their first semester.
The unique combination of courses and the real-world projects makes IIT Kanpur MBA different from other management programmes, the institute said in its communique. Students get the unique opportunity to be a part of the Technology-Management-Entrepreneurship ecosystem while pursing MBA from the institute, the communique further stated.
