The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) and the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) formalised a collaboration on November 21 in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, to revolutionise skill development in the banking, financial services, and insurance (BFSI) sector. The agreement aims to introduce commerce-oriented skill courses that align with industry demands, fostering employability and career readiness among students.
Under this partnership, ICAI will contribute its expertise in crafting course content, developing syllabi, preparing study materials, and designing training modules. Additionally, the institute will provide career guidance and actively participate in workshops and enrichment activities for students and educators organised by CBSE.
Speaking on the initiative, ICAI President CA Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal said, “The signing of this MoU with the CBSE is a significant step towards enhancing the skill development ecosystem for students across the country. Through this collaboration, ICAI aims to promote commerce-based skill courses and ensure that students are equipped with relevant, industry-aligned competencies. This partnership reflects our commitment to bridging the gap between academic learning and professional requirements, and we are confident that it will open new avenues for students to pursue rewarding careers in accountancy and finance."
Focus on Awareness and Capacity Building
The collaboration will prioritise creating awareness among educators and students about the vast career opportunities in accountancy and related fields. ICAI and CBSE will jointly host awareness programmes targeting principals, teachers, and management teams of CBSE-affiliated schools nationwide.
To ensure effective delivery of these specialised courses, CBSE will organise capacity-building initiatives for teachers handling commerce-related subjects. These initiatives aim to upskill educators, enabling them to teach commerce-based skill courses with confidence and expertise.
Through this strategic alliance, students across India will gain access to industry-relevant knowledge, empowering them to pursue rewarding careers in the BFSI sector and beyond.
