The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has commenced the application process for the Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students (CSSS) for the academic year 2024-25. Eligibility Criteria

  • To qualify for the CSSS scholarship, a student's family income must not exceed INR 4.5 lakh per annum.
  • Additionally, scholarships are distributed among state education boards in proportion to the state's population of students aged 18 to 25 years.
  • Students who have scored above 80% in their class 12 examinations are eligible to apply. However, those already receiving benefits from other scholarship schemes are not eligible for the CSSS.

CSSS Scholarship Details

Selected candidates will receive financial aid of INR 12,000 per year for the first three years of their degree courses and INR 20,000 annually for the fourth and fifth years. The scheme aims to disburse a total of 82,000 scholarships each year, equally divided between male and female students – 41,000 for each group.

The CSSS programme, which has been operational since 2008, initiated by the Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education, aims to provide financial support to deserving students pursuing higher education.
