In a significant step towards ensuring fair and transparent board examinations, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has mandated the installation of CCTV surveillance systems in all examination centers for the upcoming Class 10 and 12 board exams in 2025. This move is aimed at strengthening monitoring, deterring unfair practices, and maintaining the integrity of the assessment process.
According to the official notification released by the CBSE, all schools (approximately 8000) designated as examination centers will be required to have functional CCTV cameras installed in all examination areas. This includes the examination hall, entrances, exits, and other relevant spaces where students are expected to be present during the exams. The footage from these cameras will be continuously recorded and stored for a specified duration to ensure accountability and transparency.
The CBSE has emphasised the importance of complying with privacy regulations while implementing CCTV surveillance. Schools are expected to inform students and staff about the presence of cameras and ensure that the footage is only accessed by authorised personnel in case of any irregularities or investigations.
This decision comes as part of the CBSE's ongoing efforts to enhance the quality and credibility of board examinations. By introducing CCTV surveillance, the board aims to create a more secure and conducive environment for students to appear for their exams without any fear of cheating or malpractice.
The implementation of CCTV surveillance in examination centers is expected to have a significant impact on the overall fairness and credibility of the CBSE board exams. It is a proactive measure that demonstrates the board's commitment to providing a level playing field for all students.
