The Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIM Calcutta) is set to conduct the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2024 on Sunday, November 24, for admission into postgraduate management programmes (PGP) at IIMs and other participating MBA institutions.
This year, a total of 3.29 lakh candidates will appear for the highly competitive CAT exam across 170 cities.

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Calcutta is set to conduct the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2024 on Sunday, November 24, for admission into postgraduate management programmes (PGP) at IIMs and other participating MBA institutions. This year, a total of 3.29 lakh candidates will appear for the highly competitive CAT exam across 170 cities.

CAT 2024 Exam Pattern

The CAT exam will follow a 120-minute format, divided into three sections:

  • Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC)
  • Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR)
  • Quantitative Ability (QA)

Each section will be allotted 40 minutes, and candidates will not be permitted to switch between sections until the allotted time is over.

Last Minute Preparation Tips

With only two days to go, candidates can maximise their preparation with these strategies:

  • Practice and solve comprehension, logical reasoning and data interpretation.
  • Take mock tests to enhance time management.
  • Review vocabulary and grammar.
  • Stay calm and confident.

The CAT exam is a gateway to postgraduate and doctoral programmes at IIMs and is also accepted by various non-IIM institutions. Scoring well can significantly enhance a candidate's chances of gaining admission to some of the top business schools in the country.

To ensure a secure and fair testing environment, the IIMs have implemented additional measures, including the deployment of mobile jammers at select exam centres.
